KENT HILLI es la fantástica voz de la necesaria banda PERFECT PLAN, con la cual ha lanzado dos álbumes de gran nivel, encumbrándose rápidamente a lo más alto de la actualidad melódica, convirtiéndose así en un seguro de futuro para el panorama más elitista de degustadores de música sin estridencias y aportando clase suficiente como para evocar a los años de gloria del estilo sin vacilaciones.
Ahora se lanza, con un arnés bien diseñado, al vacío de una carrera en solitario ya imaginable, y lo hace manteniendo un nivel musical tremendamente bueno, eso sí más orientado al AOR de pureza y ahondando en mucha menor medida en el Hard Rock. Para colmar las expectativas iniciales, se asocia ni más ni menos que con MICHAEL PALACE en la parte instrumental lo que ya de por sí es una garantía segura. Analicemos el disco:
Abre esta obra The Rumble (Never Say Die) con un despliegue de “samplers” y sintetizadores asombrosos donde se desborda pomposidad AOR de primera clase y que quedan culminados en un estribillo colosal. Un cóctel muy ochentero para aquellos adoradores de una época dorada e irrepetible. No podía a ver mejor comienzo.
Seguimos con la elegancia que se extiende en estado de puro Rock melódico en la abrumadora Cold, un claro ejemplo de cómo debe sonar en la actualidad este género: puro, limpio, melodioso y con un estribillo hipnotizador lleno de coros de fábula y toda la magia asociada a su tramo musical. Simplemente tremendo.
All For Love suena más comercial y pegadiza, con unas guitarras armoniosas y un inmejorable Kent Hilli que me recuerda mucho al gran Jimi Jamison en su interpretación. Está sensacional y aún así sabe ceder los espacios necesarios como para poder disfrutar de pequeños/grandes detalles como un corto pero intenso solo de guitarra acertadísimo.
I Can´t Wait, para mí, de los mejores temas, muy Survivor, con unas teclas a lo Jim Peterik iniciando las primeras notas. Reúne todos los ingredientes indispensables para atraparte desde la primera escucha: estrofas, bridges y estribillos junto a unos formidables coros que conforman un tema redondo y un claro ejemplo de lo que es la esencia AOR.
Vamos con Don´t Say It´s Over, más delicado y de alta gama. Sus armas son sencillas para noquearte: una bonita melodía de guitarra que deja que Kent Hilli nos enamore a cada estrofa con su sentida interpretación, haciendo que todo lo demás cobre forma para crecer en tu interior sin apenas darte cuenta.
Miss Up To No Good intenta despistarnos con un comienzo de guitarras muy al estilo Cinderella, pero nada más lejos de la realidad, es un chorro de buen Rock melódico con unas guitarras en su justa medida de fuerza lo que fluye en una sencillez eficaz, algo menos espectacular, pero altamente agradable
Tiempo de disfrutar de esos temas con infinito sentimiento como es la balada Heaven Can´t Wait, que se puede definir como simplemente preciosa, desde su comienzo con piano y voz hasta su desgarrador estribillo. Emoción a flor de piel.
Sucede Does It Feel Like Love que inunda fuerza y mucha frescura al estar arropada por unos buenos sintetizadores, que, aunque de fondo, acompañan en todo momento a las guitarras que rompen con un estribillo rematado a la perfección. No hay que olvidar sus coros correspondientes, sublimes.
Y le llega el turno a un hermoso tema que lleva por nombre Love Can´t Last Forever, ultra melódica, emotiva, sin ser balada, pero con la misma magia. Kent Hilli se entrega en cuerpo y alma, no todos los vocalistas del momento consiguen hacerlo y dejarnos así de perplejos.
Nos acercamos al a recta final del disco y en esta penúltima pista tenemos a Never Be Mine, sin grandes alardes, puro Rock melodico fácil de digerir, suave, entra bien y gusta a pesar de que un estribillo más dinámico hubiera coronado de mayor forma al tema.
Y para cerrar nos acercamos a Still In Love que, a pesar de ser un tema tranquilo, a medio tiempo, es en líneas generales, un resumen de adornos (teclados, guitarras, coros) para que el inconmensurable Kent propicie una desencarnada interpretación llena de sentimiento para poner el broche de oro a su primer paso como solista.
KENT HILLI nos regala un estupendo trabajo para disfrute de los más fanáticos seguidores del AOR, así como para iniciar a una nueva legión de seguidores del buen gusto aplicado a la música. Hallarás un cargamento insultante de temas emocionantes, intensos y melódicos. Debo decirte que es un disco que no puede faltar en ninguna colección melódica.

KENT HILLI is the fantastic voice of the necessary band PERFECT PLAN, with which he has released two albums of great level, quickly rising to the top of the melodic scene, thus becoming a future insurance for the most elite scene of music tasters without stridency and providing enough class to evoke the glory years of the style without hesitation.
Now he launches himself, with a well designed harness, into the void of an already imaginable solo career, and he does it maintaining a tremendously good musical level, although more oriented to the purest AOR and delving to a much lesser extent into Hard Rock. To fulfill the initial expectations, he is associated neither more nor less than with MICHAEL PALACE in the instrumental part what already in itself is a sure guarantee. Let’s analyze the album:
The Rumble (Never Say Die) opens this work with a display of «samplers» and amazing synthesizers where first class AOR pomposity overflows and which are culminated in a colossal chorus. A very eighties cocktail for those worshippers of a golden and unrepeatable era. I could not see a better beginning.
We continue with the elegance that extends in a state of pure melodic Rock in the overwhelming Cold, a clear example of how this genre should sound nowadays: pure, clean, melodious and with a hypnotizing chorus full of fabled choruses and all the magic associated with its musical section. Simply tremendous.
All For Love sounds more commercial and catchy, with harmonious guitars and an unbeatable Kent Hilli who reminds me a lot of the great Jimi Jamison in his interpretation. He is sensational and still knows how to give the necessary spaces to enjoy small/big details such as a short but intense guitar solo.
I Can’t Wait, for me, one of the best songs, very Survivor, with Jim Peterik-like keys starting the first notes. It gathers all the indispensable ingredients to catch you from the first listen: verses, bridges and choruses together with some formidable choruses that make up a rounded song and a clear example of what is the essence of AOR.
Let’s go with Don’t Say It’s Over, more delicate and high-end. Its weapons are simple to knock you out: a nice guitar melody that lets Kent Hilli make us fall in love with each verse with his heartfelt interpretation, making everything else take shape to grow inside you without you hardly realizing it.
Miss Up To No Good tries to mislead us with a beginning of guitars very Cinderella style, but nothing further from the truth, it is a stream of good melodic Rock with guitars in their right measure of strength that flows in an effective simplicity, something less spectacular, but highly enjoyable.
Time to enjoy those songs with infinite feeling as is the ballad Heaven Can’t Wait, which can be defined as simply beautiful, from its beginning with piano and voice to its heartbreaking chorus. Emotion to the surface.
It happens Does It Feel Like Love that floods strength and a lot of freshness to be wrapped by some good synthesizers, which, although in the background, accompany at all times to the guitars that break with a chorus topped to perfection. We must not forget their corresponding choruses, sublime.
And then comes the turn of a beautiful song called Love Can’t Last Forever, ultra melodic, emotional, without being a ballad, but with the same magic. Kent Hilli gives himself body and soul, not all the vocalists of the moment manage to do it and leave us so perplexed.
We approach the final stretch of the disc and in this penultimate track we have Never Be Mine, without great boasts, pure melodic Rock easy to digest, soft, enters well and likes although a more dynamic chorus would have crowned of greater form to the subject.
And to close we approach Still In Love that, in spite of being a calm theme, to half time, is in general lines, a summary of adornments (keyboards, guitars, choirs) so that the incommensurable Kent propitiates a disembodied interpretation full of feeling to put the finishing touch to his first step as soloist.
KENT HILLI gives us a stupendous work for the enjoyment of the most fanatic AOR followers, as well as to initiate a new legion of followers of good taste applied to music. You will find an insulting load of exciting, intense and melodic themes. I must tell you that this is an album that cannot be missing in any melodic collection.
