KING COMPANY – Entrevista / Interview – (ESPECIAL ZURBARÁN ROCK)

Seguid rockeando!!

Gracias por la entrevista Jesús!

ENTREVISTA: Jesús Alijo «Lux»

ENGLISH VERSION

KING COMPANY are about to release their second album, Queen Of  Hearts, with fantastic reviews that proved the enthusiasm that their debut, One For The Road, caused on the Hard Rock Scene.

Rock Angels had the chance to make a few questions to this Finnish band that will be playing live on ZURBARÁN ROCK festival, the first on July in Burgos, Spain.

Remeber that KING COMPANY is formed by members of KOTIPELTO, WARMEN, THUNDERSTONE, so quality is completely assured.

Jesús Alijo Lux: My pleasure talking to you. First of all, could you make a little history of the band until the current day?

MR: It`s also a pleasure talk with you! King Company started about 4-5 years ago, actually in early 2014. I decided  finally that it would be a good moment in my life for this kind of band, cause I have always wanted to play a melodic hard rock, but I haven`t had  time to do it before, because of other projects and bands. I was stopped in Thunderstone 2011 and I haven´t had any full time band at this time at all, only some casual projects. And then I thought I have to do it…now or never! I knew that Antti Wirman likes this kind of music style as well, and we were played together in Warmen, so he was the first guy who I called to. And he was ready immediately. After that I called to Pasi Rantanen who we had a long history together in a same bands started from early 90s and Pasi`s voice is definetely one of the best hard rock/ heavy metal voices in a world. He said “yes” also, and then I knew this band will gonna rock and  work like hell. Then I called to Jari Pailamo and Time Schleifer, old friends as well, and they were ready to join the band too. I had  exactly this line-up on my mind, and what`s better … they shared my passion and agreed.

We started composing songs right away we started the band, but  we hadn`t any plans or idea when we will get a record deal, or do we get deal at all. We just went to rehearsal place many times and jammed together, and we didn`t keep hurry at all with a record deal. To be honest we hadn`t big expectations, we just wanted to play together and keep fun. Of course we knew that if everythings goes smoothly, we gonna do demo first and then we start send it for the recordlabels …like we did then. We sent demo to Frontiers Records.  Actually it was the first label which came to mind and we really hoped they would sign us because they are focused for this kind of music. And rest is history. They signed us after first listening. And I can say we were really glad about this deal.

Our name was No Man`s Land first, but Frontiers guys remembered that there`s other bands with a same name in a world so we decided to change the name before our first album. We released our first album “One for the road “ in August 2016 and in my opinion it was pretty good start for us.

Unfortunately last year Pasi had some major problem with his voice and he didn`t want continue in a band anymore, cause it was really unsure where he can sing again.  So we decided that we have to find a new singer. Luckily I saw Leonard F.Guillan on Youtube, and that`s how he came to the band.

JAL: What are Spanish fans going to find in a KING COMPANY´s show?

MR: It`s gonna be really energetic rock-show with a full of melodic hard rock songs,  and it´s guaranteed that  we always give our best for the audience..rain or shine!

JAL: Which influences could you mention as major acts for your sound?

MR: You can hear some  shades from bands like Whitesnake, Mr Big, Deep Purple, Dio, Europe, Winger just a mention few. It`s a mixture all of them. But with a King Company style and sound!

JAL: Any band you would recommend now-a-days that should be better known?

MR: King Company at least….hahahaha…just kidding…..no I`m not kiddingJ Seriously there`s a lot of very good bands who should be better known now a days, but it`s very hard to name just one. But the bands like Inglorius, Shiraz Lane, Ammunition came first to my mind. They are still growing but to be honest in these days it`s very very hard get your band to the top of the world. Times have changed and rock bands are not so “hot stuff” in these days. But like band Journey sing it: “Never stop believing”

JAL: What do you think about the European rock scene? Is it easy for a band of your skills to tour intensivily?

MR: I think European rock scene is alive and kickin nowadays. Bands are touring all the time, even albums don`t sell so well anymore. But still thre`s a lot of people who wants to see bands alive yet. And they want to buy merchandise, which is significant source of incomes for the bands nowadays. I think it`s pretty easy for the band like us to make a tour in Europe. Actually we are right now planning our own European-tour for next spring, and yes..also in Spain!  But if you wanna make a tour with some bigger band..as a support band I mean, then you need a lot of money. And then you have to ask toursupport from recordlabel. Bigger bands wants their fees per show, busses, hotels, roadies etc…it`s not a cheap at all. And if records don`t sell, you can`t get tour support so much. But if recordlabel believes you they are ready to put all in….and I hope we are the one of these bands

JAL: Frontiers Music is one of the biggest labels for fans of Melodic yet hard edged Hard rock, are you happy with your relationship?

MR: Yes, we are very happy! Frontiers was first label which came to our mind, and we were really glad when get signed deal with them. They are really focused for this kind of music style, hard rock and AOR,  and what is best they have a lots of bands in their roster which have been our idols back in the days—like Whitesnake, Mr Big, Stryper, Uriah Heep. We are very exited to be a part of Frontiers Records bands.

JAL: Any guilty pleasure you´d like to share with us, don´t be shy, mine is for example ROXETTE, please don´t laugh…

MR: Hey,no shame at all,  Roxette is a great band, I like them too. Im listening all kinds of music. Im not so heavy oriented anymore than  I was 20 years ago. Good music is good music, it doesn`t matter is an artist from  pop, rock or country scene. Melodies are most important things to me. You mentioned Roxette, then I say ABBA, one of the great swedish bands as well

JAL: Tell us what your second release, Queen Of Hearts, will offer to Rock fans on its release, Friday,August 10, 2018.

MR: “Queen of hearts” is a  pure hard rock album for the fans of Whitesnake, Rainbow, Mr Big, Dio and Dokken. I can say we are very happy about the new album and very exited to see how the people will reacted it. I think most relevant progressions compared for the first album are that this time almost all songs have composed after first album. On first album you can hear few very old songs, but now they are really fresh material, and this album gives you a better picture what kind of of band we really are.

Also we have grown as a band which means that we play better and more relaxed together, and it of course affected for the songs and feelings when we were recording an album.

JAL: Feel free to send some words to Spanish fans. My best regards for the band.

MR: Hey all Spanish friends! We had a great tour in Spain on last autumn and we were really glad to see just YOU there .You are so friendly people.  We are coming back now to Zurbaran Rock  and hope to see you all there again. You are an amazing audience and we really waiting to play there again. Spread the words and buy our new album. Together we can keep the hard rock alive…keep on rocking.

Thanks for the inteview Jesus!
